In the ‘when it rains, it pours’ department, wound up taking a last-second
meeting this afternoon, which required massive schedule-juggling, little
prep, putting the printer to work full steam ahead, and racing out the door
destined to put the taco meat back in the fridge in lieu of fast food. But,
business is business, and what needed to be covered today could go a long
way towards bringing Visions of Sarah to fruition, so Pam and I dropped
everything, bounded out the door and raced across town to squeeze this in
before the end of the biz day.
Things worked out pretty good. Not only did it turn out one of the people we
spoke to may want my wife to work on a web solution for a book he’s written,
once we started talking about the blind thing, how I went back into comics
and then decided to take on directing, turns out he writes for a pretty
popular web mag and wants to do a piece on me.
So, my wife might be able to help promote his book, I’ll be having another
article written about me in the near future, and looks like things with
Visions are firmly on-track. The exec producer went over the MP3 samples I
received from the composer’s agent, and we’re all in agreement-this guy is
*good* and if we can lock this down, we’re going to. Might take some
back-and-forth on price, but one option is to record the full film score
with an orchestra this guy works with in Rome.
That’s a far cry from how we were piecing together score for The Bunker, let
me tell you. Not that I’m not happy with the music we wound up with once I
stripped out all the other stuff we’d tried first. I like the final sound
mix for the film and while I may need to add a bit more in one or two spots
because it might smooth things out, the music we have is perfect for what I
wanted.
But hell…an orchestra from Rome??? C’mon, who wouldn’t be jazzed about
*that* possibility?
